From humble beginnings, as our name suggests, Two Men and a Truck has gone on to become an Australian small business success story. Over the past two years there has been a massive 30% increase in the number of families Two Men and a Truck has moved. The number has jumped from 5,300 families in 2006 to more than 5,700 in 2007. Director Richard Kuipers says great teamwork is behind this success. This includes the efforts of more than 42 small teams who do the packing, moving and cleaning of homes, offices and factories across Australia. Mr. Kuipers says it is easy to maintain quality control when each team is a separate micro-business and has a vested interest in keeping their customers happy. The company thrives on these clients who then pass on their positive stories to family and friends planning to move houses, offices or factories.

Mr. Kuipers says his business name also attracts clients. Something he is thrilled about given it was simply a statement of fact when the business was registered 15 years ago. His team then consisted solely of his neighbour (a strapping lad), himself and a truck! The company now has more than 50 trucks and services Queensland, New South Wales, the Australian Capital Territory, Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia and Western Australia.

with Two Men and a Truck roving reporter: Louise Darmody

Moving house is one of the most stressful times in ones life. Just imagine if you add a young baby to the equation and there is bound to be drama. However the subject of our first Moving Story Jenny, seemed surprisingly calm when roving reporter Louise Darmody visited her home on the North Shore in Sydney. Jenny told Louise she was confident she was in good hands with Two Men and a Truck after receiving glowing reports from her mother and other friends. Her only worry was that there might not be enough room to store all the possessions, as they were moving from a large house to a smaller one only a few blocks away. Chief removalist Mark had everything under control and re-assured Jenny that she, baby, young son and husband would be comfortably settled in their new home by sunset. When Louise visited the family at their new residence five hours later, a relieved Jenny told her that the move had gone really well. She said she owed a big thanks to Mark Fitzgerald who had called for more men to help get the babys cot and their beds set up for the night. And when it was too late to arrange a fourth truck, Mark put the remaining fridge and television on trolleys and rolled them from their former house to the new abode.

Pre Moving Hints Pre-Moving Hints
Don't move it all, recycle and make some extra money!
says Elizabeth Macdonell

My husband and I recently moved out of our family home in Sydney where we have lived for nearly 50 years, more than half our lives. The thought of leaving a large house with a wealth of accumulated possessions for a small apartment was daunting. Friends told us to make things a little easier and hire a skip, but I said blow that and was determined to recycle everything I could. We invited some businesses to inspect those things we could not take with us.

One lady found some treasures for her second hand shop. And we were relieved when a bookshop owner took the books we did not want in exchange for some naval gems he had spied. Although a second hand furniture man said we could possibly make more money by having a garage sale, we thought it was a lot less trouble to sell him the goods. Our real coup was selling a trunk full of World War Two naval uniforms complete with tropical suits, evening attire and gold braided reefer jackets to a theatrical hire business for $200! So having achieved the goal of recycling our excess gear we left the rest of the work to the removalists. We highly recommend Two Men and a Truck for a completely professional service and hassle-free move.

Dear Nathalie, I just wanted to thank you all for your help in ensuring my move was as hassle free as possible. Jeremy and Gabe did an excellent job of moving my possessions over to my new home and nothing was damaged in the process, plus they were fantastic guys, friendly and very professional. I would not hesitate for a moment in recommending Two Men and a Truck to any of my friends who are thinking of moving. From the moment you took my call the entire process was extremely professional and I felt as though I was in safe hands. Subject: A really huge thank you! Hi Richard, Catherine and Martyn, I just wanted to say a really massive thank you to you all for making our move as streamlined and quick as possible. Your service was second to none, from us needing to delay the move at the last minute to your boys working super efficiently to get us moved within the allocated time. Not only that, but they also offered to help set some of the equipment up for us once we moved in. Much more than I expected and all was done with a smile. A huge thanks to you all.
Blue skies, Stephanie
