Moving Made Easy
Using the Right Packing Materials to Make Moving House Easier
Boxes and Cartons
It’s always better to get proper boxes and cartons from your removalist company, as you know that they’re going to be sturdy and durable.
Books and small, heavy objects should be stored in smaller boxes, while files and paperwork should be stored in archive boxes. Lighter, larger items can be packed into bigger boxes.
At Two Men and a Truck, we provide boxes of all shapes and sizes for all your packing needs! Find out more here.
Custom Packaging
Some items, like paintings or wine bottles, may need custom packaging to protect them during transit.
Padding
Most removalist companies provide their own padding materials and blankets to further protect your furniture and belongings; however, it’s always a good idea to provide extra.
Butcher's Paper
Although newspapers are more readily available, butchers paper provides the same protection and won’t leave newspaper print marks.
Packing Tape and Dispenser
Heavy-duty packing tape and a dispenser ensure that your boxes are securely closed and that none of your belongings will fall out.
Space Saving Vacuum Bags
Clothing, linen, and bedding can take up much more room than people expect. A good idea to save space is to use vacuum bags for bigger items. These bags remove the excess air space around the items and reduce their size, thus saving space in your removal truck or car.
Felt-Tip Marker Pens
Thick marker pens or textas are best used to label each box clearly. Write down which room each box goes to and jot important notes about the items on top of the box. Labelling each box properly ensures that the unpacking process goes much more smoothly.
Bubble Wrap
Your fragile items like glassware, porcelain, and crystal should be wrapped in bubble wrap, which provides cushioning and protection during the move. Did you know that Two Men and a Truck offer a packing service? Find out more here.

Felt-Tip Marker Pens
Buy some thick marker pens or textas so you can label each box clearly. Write down which room each box goes into and jot notes about the contents of each box on the top. There’s nothing worse than going through unmarked boxes when you’re unpacking to find the things you need.
By using the right packing materials, you can reduce the chances of your possessions getting damaged in transit to your new home. Talk to your removal company about whether they can help you locate the best packing materials to suit your needs.
