As you’ll have to empty your fridge, freezer and pantry of fresh produce before you move, it’s time to get creative!
Research potential meals and experiment with different recipes so you use up all the produce in your fridge, freezer and pantry!
Ask your local supermarket for fruit and vegetable crates
Fruit and vegetable crates are excellent for packing jars of sauces, spreads, and dry pantry items. They are compact and stack easily.
Get an esky
If there are still perishable items that you couldn’t use before moving day, fill an esky with ice and store them there until you can transfer them to the fridge or freezer.
Limit your supermarket spends
Do your best to limit what you buy from the grocery store, so you have fewer food items to pack and don’t have to worry about finishing perishable food products before moving day.
Host a dinner party
Host a dinner party before the move! This gives you a chance to say goodbye to your neighbours (if you’re close to them) and get rid of any extra food you may have. Make sure you send your guests home with leftovers!
Indulge in take out on moving day
The last thing you want to do on moving day is to cook dinner. Make sure all your perishable food items are packed away in the fridge or freezer, and order some takeaway!
